The Montessori Institute for Teacher Education at Looffan offers an excellent Early Childhood Teacher Education course. This rigorous course takes one Academic year to complete. All Montessori Academy teachers have gone through our courses, as have a large percentage of Montessori teachers in Washington state.

Both of our Teacher Education courses are MACTE-Accredited. MACTE stands for: Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education. MACTE is the ONLY Montessori Accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Program Objective

The purpose of the course is to acquaint and instruct teachers, parents, and student teachers in the Montessori Method of early childhood education. The course will provide insight into the theory behind the method, teach the use of special materials uniquely Montessori, supply ideas and skills that can be translated into action immediately in both the home and the classroom and demonstrate the technique for making one's own materials in the manner of Montessori. The course directs itself primarily to the teaching of children 2 ½  through 6 years of age, though the skills and philosophy can be applied to older children as well.
